About the Company
Web Vitals started out in the tiny little town of Bradenton Florida when I was at the ripe old age of 19. Looking to make a little extra cash in the web design world, my plan was to create the best company on the planet using web design as my vehicle.
Of course, things don’t always turn out like you plan…
Not the best company on the planet part…I totally accomplished that, It’s just not web design anymore.
See, shortly after starting the company, I realized something about myself: I hated designing websites. I loved coding them, just didn’t like designing them in Photoshop and making them look pretty.
Business was doing pretty well, so I put up with it, but i’ll never forget the repetitive nagging of all of my clients.
“Why don’t you do SEO or marketing? I need that.”
My response was always the same:
“Because this is a web design company.”
But that’s when it hit me…Why DON’T I do SEO or marketing? At that point I realized that I was doing what I wanted to do…even though I really didn’t want to do it… Above all else though, I wasn’t doing what the customer wanted, and it was actually a disservice to them by not being able to take on the job.
So I took on the impossible…
I took on an SEO client without knowing what the hell I was doing. The funny thing though was that would later on be an integral part of my character and become the driving force for my constant need to take on things I didn’t know how to do, and learn how to make it happen in the process.
Not long after that, I packed my bags, moved 3,000 miles across the country to Los Angeles, CA with nothing but a suitcase and landed my first…errr….second SEO client. I started to see the bigger picture of the puzzle. See what I didn’t know actually helped me. being the honest person I am, i shared every intricate detail of what I knew with this new client and he thanked me for it. Apparently most people want you to hire them without explaining how they do things…weird.
What I didn’t know then though was that this client was the owner of over 20 commercial properties all over Los Angeles, and each of them had a website that needed to be optimized. I always knew there was gold out west.
At that point I understood that I wasn’t a genius, I was just smart enough to know I got lucky. So I set my sites on expanding the business, and turned some my magical marketing powers inward.
It was with that initial client though that I figured out something else that would ultimately change the course of my life yet again: All of these sites needed to work together toward a common goal. They needed organizational marketing, they needed to supplement each other, but above all else, they needed strategy.
Strategy was what they lacked, and its why they were struggling. What this company had was akin to 20 separate and completely unconnected entities all competing with each other. Strategy would be the driving force that led them from direct competition to cooperative dominance.
I took on this monumental task of simultaneous marketing with this industry behemoth, and I used that success as a stepping stone to branch out to the rest of the business world.
With the excess of clients and my growing creation, i needed a bit more space, so I moved into a gorgeous loft in a creative community (pictured above) with like-minded professionals. And as they say, everything from there is history.
So with a little luck, a little faith, and a lot of help from the team I’ve assembled over the years, Web Vitals became what it is today.
